When it opens, a sliding gate moves sideways along the wall. So a car parked in front of the gate doesn't stop it from opening — on narrow streets this solves an everyday problem entirely.
Cantilever or track-mounted?
- Cantilever: no track on the ground, trouble-free in winter. Needs side space equal to the width of the gate.
- Track-mounted: cheaper and covers a wider opening, but the track must be kept clean.
